Our Journal
This journal will serve as an opportunity to showcase undergraduate research from ASU to submit academic research that hasn’t been previously published from these three areas: history, philosophy, and religious studies.

Anusha Natarajan
Editor in-Chief
Anusha (she/her) is a second year student, majoring in Sociology and History. Anusha is passionate about history and foreign policy, and is hoping to do more work with election security domestically and internationally. In her free time, Anusha likes to read, watch a good sit-com, and try some new crafts.
Sara Walker
Executive Editor
Sara (she/her) is a sophomore majoring in English (Writing, Rhetorics and Literacies) and minoring in German. A lover of words and the world, she's contemplating a career in book editing, technical writing or travel writing. In her free time, Sara reads contemporary novels, bakes chocolatey desserts, and listens to mediocre pop music. Some of Sara's bucket list items include studying abroad in Germany, meeting Michelle Obama, living by the beach and visiting Antarctica.
Mackenzie King
Executive Editor
Mackenzie King is a junior at Barrett, the Honors College majoring in History and English Linguistics and minoring in German. She has previously interned at the Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies in Scholarly Publishing. She has also worked as a Community Activist for the Sedona Action Network. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and knitting.
Chris Horvath
Philosophy Editor
Chris is a Senior majoring in Philosophy and Political Science. He attends ASU online from his home in Tampa, Florida where he lives with his wife and their two children. As an Undergraduate Research Assistant, he contributed work to ASU’s Applied Philosophy website. He is also the Treasurer for the Delta Theta chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, a political science honor society. After graduation Chris plans to attend graduate school and to conduct research on the intersection of morality, political philosophy, and economic thought. When he is not busy with his studies, Chris enjoys going to the beach, spending time with his family, and listening to audiobooks
Annabella Hepler
History Editor
Annabella (she/her) is a freshman at Barrett, the Honors College, majoring in History with a minor in Spanish. Annabella is planning to pursue a career in Academia as a historian and professor due to her infinite love for learning everything historical. She is beginning research on immigration in Arizona from Mexico and Canada. On the side, she plays the cello and devotes free time to reading.
Hale Anna Espinoza
Philosophy Editor
Anna's love of philosophy began when she was first forced to read Plato's Five Dialogues five and a half years ago, and she's still not tired of learning about all the things she doesn't know. She has contributed to ASU's Applied Philosophy Blog and currently pens articles for her own blog, Aesthetic Ethics. Anna works as a legal assistant to help give voice to those impacted such events as the COVID-19 pandemic and subprime mortgage and opioids crises, as well as the owners of Arizona's small arts businesses. She is a Project Excellence student, Prison Education Program Intern, and student leader at 3 For AZ.
Isabelle Kinney
Religious Studies Editor
Isabelle is a second-year student at Barrett majoring in French and Political Science. She also has a certificate in International Studies and a minor in Justice Studies. Isabelle was inspired to join the SHPRS Digital Humanities Journal by the research she did as part of the Religion and Conflict undergraduate fellowship.
